French Tour #2
We made our second appearance in France, in the lovely region of Haut Bugey, for a program of Scottish music to celebrate Burn’s night and bring our culture abroad. We started with a lovely intimate performance at En Dehors Du Cadre, where our audience enthusiastically joined along with clapping and singing, enchanted by the journey in Celtic lands.
The next day we had a full day of intensive workshop at the Conservatoire of Oyonnax, starting in the morning with a 30min performance of Dancing in Faeries, by Connor Bristow, which we had the chance to première in 2024. The children learnt about Scottish Faeries folklore in music during these two morning sessions. In the afternoon, we taught students from the conservatoire in two level groups some traditional tunes and performed it in the evening together alongside with a trio only performance. That day was very special for our violist Suzanne, as this is where she started music.
On our final day, we had a very well attended unformal performance at the Auberge du Lac Genin, just before lunchtime, where people from all the surrounding villages enjoyed our Celtic repertoire made of traditional tunes from Celtic lands.
We couldn’t help ourselves but to go and enjoy the snowy landscape with a bit of sledging and sunbath before coming back to Glasgow!
